Experience Beppu's seaside sand-bathing tradition at Sand SPA, overlooking Beppu Bay. Change into a special yukata before staff cover you with warm sand for up to 15 minutes, then rinse off in the shower. Complete your visit with a soak in the Grand Bath, a hot spring bath with sea views. The sand is heated with hot spring water nine times a day, with different bathing spots used for hygiene.

Good to know: - Guests who are not in good health or pregnant may not be permitted to use the facility. - The public bath cannot be used before the sand bath experience. - Sand SPA may close temporarily during severe weather such as typhoons. - Sand SPA closes on an irregular schedule twice per month. - Check the official website for the daily opening hours and closure dates prior to your visit.
